Yes, I used this oscilloscope in 1970 to capture traces from a stopped-flow spectrophotometer in the Analytical Chemistry Dept at the University of Nebraska. I do not remember the Tek model no.

Denis,

I am sorry I did not recognize this flaw when I posted this. The document came to us as a .pdf from an ex-Tek engineer. I'll track back to see if he knows where the source document is.

It is unfortunate that the right edge of even pages 6-20 are cropped off (missing about half a dozen characters). Appears to be a good tutorial.

Mitch,

We have been authorized by Tektronix to reprint the book. All original copies were given to Tek Employees in 1986 and a number have been donated to the Museum. Our reprint will include a 2011 Index, which the book never had, and will likely sell for $50. If you want a 1986 copy, we will send with an Index as a separate printout for $50 plus shipping. Otherwise you will have to wait until 2012 when we reprint the book.

Were you ever a Tek Employee? We published last year, another book My Years At Tektronix 1945-1953 by Miles Tippery, one of the four original co-founders that we sell for $25 pus shipping. I am loading it into our website store inventory as we speak. I am not sure when our store will be operational soon, but I tested it by buying something yesterday and it works. Getting all the photos connected to each book, CD, DVD is a lot of work.... If you want either, you can pay via Paypal or Credit Card by using the Donate Now button, and enter the exact amount and I will hand ship it so you do not have to wait.

Great pictures. Here are some fast answers

2458 CRT Gun Wiring Group. I can name many of them as they worked for me. I am standing in the back and Bela Kirschberger is to my left.
2255 is Bela Kirschberger
2568 is Kay Conklin, a dear lady and faithful worker.
2493 is a the Gun Wiring group again.
5182 is a final seal operation of a T551 dual Cathode Ray Tube

Many of the other photos are of the Bulb Mfg area.

I can identify many of the people in the photos if you like. When I have time, I will do so. Many of those photos go back to the early sixties. And a few in the mid fifties.

You have done a great service preserving an important piece of history. I became a disciple of measurement and followed a career in commercial metrology supporting calibration and traceable standards development work following an Air Force tour as an F 102 fire control maintenance tech. The Oscilloscope was most useful in the waveform analysis required to troubleshoot radar problems. Retired 2003, I now have restored a Tek 454A s/n B133292. Knowing scopes like this are ubiquitous, would this be something I could donate?

Dick was so generous, gave us kids a bag of transistors (about 1958) and had a huge lab in his basement where we were fascinated by audio waveforms on his many scopes. He lived on SW75th and I had to cross the Sunset Highway on my bike to deliver his paper, not much traffic back then!

Congratulations on the opening of the museum. I worked for Tektronix Guernsey in 1971 for nine years as a test technician working on 5100 and 7000 series. I joined at 18 years old and Tek provided all my training in electronics. An ex Tek friend passed on your website details and we are contacting as many ex Tek Guernsey employees so they can also share in past memories. Good luck!

Hi, I saw the article in this morning's Oregonian. My Dad was an electrical engineer and had several of these. He would always show us them in operation and explain what they were doing. I never understood it as a kid. Dad has since passed, so I'm looking forward to visiting and maybe I can understand how these are used to troubleshoot electronics (I'm 44 now). Thanks for your efforts!

Good luck on your museum venture. I would volunteer myself if I lived in the area. I repaired a lot of electronic equipment using Tektronix test gear. I had a good friend that worked at Motorola with me back in the 60’s named Ken Andrews. He left Motorola and became a Tektronix Rep for many years. I lost track of Ken many years ago. I hope he is doing well. Regards to all, Gary

Pete,
This post was done by me using your username before I created a separate one. Will it be sent to you for comment or approval?

I have asked Don Tucker to comment to see what I get and how it arrives.

It was pointed out by a test viewer that the Video posted on the site in the Video Gallery was improperly coded somewhere along the conversion process. When watching it the sound and video are mismatched somehow. The Tek 545 does show up during the program however.
